We are very excited that the National Business Review (NBR) has voted Mi5 Security as the second most exciting security company in New Zealand. Paragon, a corporate private investigation company, took first place.
The nominations were found by interviewing business managers from the Security sector and asking them which companies are most exciting other than their own. The companies were rated by the NBR using an "excitement index" of psychologically based factors causing excitement in business, which meant the most exciting companies may not be those named most often but those that were rated the highest by respondents.
The NBR's research identified rising crime with the economic downturn as a key issue for the security industry. As crime rises, the demand for security services increases. As one respondent mentioned, “Businesses are being burgled more so there’s more camera surveillance. There is more inside theft, worker theft. There are more farmers with long driveway security. They are having burglaries which they never had 30- 40 yrs ago – people are going right up driveways. So they are using camera systems. People are coming to us constantly after burglaries. For private businesses it is a requirement for insurance.”
Mi5's CEO, Helen Wattie, said "it's great to have the recognition of Mi5's focus on delivering security into remote and rural areas where surveillance has not been previously available. To have NBR give us 'the big tick' shows us that the Industry is behind us and we thank our resellers and clients for their continued support."
