Auckland, New Zealand, 22 November 2011
Australasian wireless security company Mi5 Limited has been named as a finalist in the prestigious Red Herring Magazine's 2011 Top 100 Global award. The Red Herring editorial team selects its finalists from regional award winners to uncover 100 of the most innovative technologies and business models from over 40 nations. To make the finals companies are judged on a range of qualitative and quantitative metrics, including technology innovation, financial performance, growth, management, potential globalisation of the strategy and market share improvement.
“We are excited to have the integrated wireless security system we have developed recognised on such a prominent world stage just three years into its development” says Mi5 Security COO Scott Wattie. “The chance to present our strategy at the Red Herring Global forum finals in Los Angeles on December 5-7 will put us in front of some of world’s foremost technology innovators and investors; that is a bonus over and above winning.”
According to Alex Vieux, chairman of Red Herring, Mi5 Security has performed exceptionally in its field and strongly deserves to be singled out as one of the Red Herring global finalists. “2011 has confirmed the sector's vibrant activity and its resilience to widespread economic problems,” he says. “An unprecedented number of entrepreneurs are attempting to jump ahead of the competition and aspire to make a difference. Breakthroughs obsolete each other faster than ever before. At this stage, we are left with the daunting task to select the best qualified companies for the 2011 Top 100 Global Award."
Mi5 Security joins seven other Australasian based companies in the Top 100; the winners will be announced at a special awards ceremony on December 7 in Los Angeles.
